As we moved through spring and into summer, LHM360 continued to thrive as a safe, welcoming space where people come not just for food, but for connection, support, and a sense of belonging. This quarter brought record-breaking footfall, creative milestones, heartfelt outings, and the arrival of a new team member - all of which have helped shape a vibrant and hopeful season at the centre.

April: Record Numbers and Our AGM

April was our busiest month since reopening in 2021, with 4,325 meals served, including 998 more lunches than the previous month. Breakfasts were at an all-time high too, with 98 people through the door one morning alone. The sharp rise in numbers, especially from our international visitors meant we had to adapt our food service to keep things flowing, all while maintaining a sense of inclusion, care, and dignity.

We also hosted our AGM, which received an incredible 9.27/10 rating from attendees. From the powerful client stories

to Gillian Gourley’s inspiring talk from the National Theatre of Scotland, not to mention the fabulous catering, the feedback was reflective of our intent. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make it such a success.

May: Steady and Impactful

Although still very busy, May brought a slight drop in footfall, with 3,861 meals served, giving the team a bit more breathing space. Angela was able to focus on more in-depth support, offering one-to-one help with benefits, housing, and emotional wellbeing. This quieter pace allowed for stronger relationship-building and more meaningful interactions.

We had the pleasure of attending the Incorporation of Weavers Box Opening event at Trades House, where they showcased some brilliant up-and-coming talent from the textile world, with craftspeople working with a range of materials and techniques. It was a wonderful opportunity to hear from some of the craftspeople and see the goods that they produce. Additionally, we heard from people who the Weavers have donated money to, LHM being one of them.

Wylie and Bissett has chosen us to be their charity of the year and are launched their fundraising efforts for us such as the kilt walk. They have planned regular and varied events throughout the year to maximise their chances of raising as much money as possible.

June: New Energy and Women’s Voices

The Eagle Lodge were once again our hosts for a stunning Volunteers Week Dinner, giving us an opportunity to thank our amazing team for all the hard work they do for us. It was a wonderful evening for all who attended. Big thanks to Rahul's team for their great service on the night.

We were also honoured to present at the Incorporation of Cordiner’s Box Opening meaningful moments to say thank you and strengthen relationships. We were met with interest and enthusiasm for our service, making many useful connections. Additionally, there were other fascinating presentations that we enjoyed hearing. This organisation are very good supporters of LHM, it was a pleasure to be a part of their night.

We welcomed Mark Melville, our new Social Media and Content Creator, to our team. Since joining mid-month, Mark has brought a fresh burst of creativity - doubling our digital engagement, supporting the floor team during busy times, building relationships and garnering trust with clients prior to beginning to explore storytelling and photography with them. His warm, respectful approach has already made a big impact. Let him say hello to you himself right here!

The month also saw us enjoying a ladies’ day trip to the Willow Tea Rooms, which was so well received that Angela is now planning a monthly women’s group.

One of the standout highlights of the month was the Variety Show at the Garage, hosted by National Theatre of Scotland, where our very own Mission Voices choir gave a performance that many said was the best of the night. Their confidence and talent, lit up the stage, and we’re hopeful it will lead to even more opportunities for them to share their unique sound.

So, to sum up...

This quarter reminded us just how vital consistency, creativity, and community are. It’s been a busy and exciting time, with client activities continuing to play a vital role in what we offer. Highlights included a powerful workshop and play delivered by the Tron Theatre, line dancing, alongside much-loved day trips to the Japanese Gardens, Willow Tea Rooms, and Saltcoats. Simple outings like these bring joy, connection, and a chance to step away from daily challenges - even for just a few hours.

We are looking forward to updating you in the next report as to what Mark Melville has been up to and what his plans are going to be!
